2016 has been the year of the successful celibate celebrity. DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good are on FIRE right now: they’re authors of a New York Times Best-Selling book, “The Wait,” and Franklin is executive producer of “Miracles From Heaven,” a new Christian movie featuring Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah. It’s been quite the sight to see as God has continued to bless them with a priceless opportunity to promote Christianity in Hollywood. As a married couple, DeVon and Meagan are prime examples of how God can use people to help spread His word across the globe.
Another recent example is Russell Wilson and Ciara Harris. Russ finally popped the question and CiCi said YAASSSS!!! As a celebrity couple, the two have faced public love and hate since they started dating in 2015. Taking a celibacy vow was key to their success as they made a promise to God within their relationship to wait for sex until after marriage. Many people couldn’t understand why two celebrity non-virgins would do such a thing, especially publicizing that kind of information. Sometimes, people take action to make a statement for the greater good. Other times, actions are more personal. For Russell and Ciara, I think it was a mixture of both. Remaining celibate until marriage was the personal and spiritual road they needed to travel on, in order to build a strong foundation. In doing so, they also honored God’s word, which is good, pleasing and perfect. I’m extremely happy for their new engagement and wish them nothing but the best. God bless!
It feels good seeing this lifestyle receive praise from the masses. People are respecting these old-school moral values and it’s very inspiring. I didn’t see this trend coming back like this. As a 32-year-old virgin, I was only playing my part becoming WTWG. It’s awesome being a part of the celibacy movement and witnessing its direct effect on our society. The stock is WAY UP, people…that’s a beautiful thing! 🙂
