Last week, See It Through tour traveled west to Las Vegas, Nevada. I had the opportunity to speak to 150 students at Canyon Springs HS in North Las Vegas. It felt good being back in Vegas after a successful week in NYC. I love New York but Vegas has been home for the last 8 years of my life – back to reality!
The students at CSHS were amazing. They enjoyed answering questions throughout the presentation and had some of their own engaging questions for me afterwards. It’s always a cool feeling seeing young adults excited about their future. I remember those days – so eager, ambitious and pure.
I was totally surprised to see one of my former students in the audience, working at the school. I haven’t seen Chaz in years. I used to teach leadership classes at her middle school – she’s now in college. At that moment, I felt very mature (I won’t say old lol)!
The next day, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Krystal Allan of Wake Up With The CW/Channel 3 Las Vegas. She asked me about the tour and how I felt about sex education being offered in the classroom. Anytime where people can become educated on a topic or subject, I’m all for it, especially sex education and abstinence. Nowadays, kids learn the majority of things through social media and that’s quite disturbing. Sex education should not be one of them. When I was in school, it was a part of the entire deal. I say bring it back!
I would like to thank Natasha Williams for making the Canyon Springs tour event happen. Looking forward to coming back again! To watch the full CW 3 interview, please click HERE.
NEXT UP: my home state, Michigan. I will be making three stops – Detroit, Flint and Saginaw. See you soon! 🙂
