ON THE MOVE: See It Through Purdue

It’s been two months since the last time I was on the road for the See It Through Tour. During the short break, I focused on working back at the pool (my “real” job) and recording music with my sister (she’s the artist…I’m just the moral support guy).

Within popular culture, a lot has changed during that same time span: The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning retired from football. Bernie Sanders won the state of Michigan Primary. The Golden State Warriors are still playing NBA games with video-game cheat codes.  Donald Trump is still Donald Trump. Michigan State lost to Middle Tennessee State (Who???) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. LOL @ those Spartans!

Spring is officially here, which means it’s time to keep pushing towards the ultimate goal. One of my goals for 2016 is to become a full-time motivational speaker. Currently, I’m a motivational speaker 50-60% of the time. With proper planning and faith, I know I can achieve that goal by the end of the year. No matter the grind, I work hard every day and hustle like it’s the last play of the game.

On Tuesday night, I had the pleasure speaking to a group of students at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. The group, Black Men 0f Excellence, reminded me of a campus group at University of Michigan when I was in school (HEADS). The gentlemen that attended the presentation were quite impressive. Not only did they take notes during the speech, but they had multiple questions for me at the very end of presentation.

I spent about 30 minutes afterwards to answer more questions and kick it with the fellas. We chopped it up about future WTWG plans/opportunities, sports, college life and dating. They all made fun of my chicken scratch handwriting lol. If anyone knows me, my handwriting looks like a prescription written by a doctor. It’s not a pretty sight! I like to call it a “future millionaire’s” handwriting…

Special thanks goes out to Rosa Acevedo Villarreal. Rosa is one of my best friends and someone I truly admire and adore. She has always been there for me and I sincerely appreciate it. Your hospitality and generosity around campus was much appreciated. Thanks buuudy! 🙂
