On last week, I attended my favorite annual Las Vegas event: Life Is Beautiful Festival. LIB is a three-day music and art festival held in Downtown Las Vegas every September. This year marked the 5th year of the festival as thousands of people from all around the world flooded the DTLV streets. Imagine Coachella invading Vegas: Culture, arts, music, food = #issavibe. LIB is totally different scene than life on the Las Vegas Strip… it’s simply BEAUTIFUL.
In previous years, this festival has brought some of my favorite music artists of all-time to the Las Vegas desert: Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, OutKast, Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Snoop Dogg, The Roots and more. My favorite year was Year Two (where more than half of the artists I just mentioned performed). LIB outdid themselves and set a festival standard.
Before the 2017 lineup was released, I told my sister that there was only one hip-hop artist that should headline at LIB. His name is Chance The Rapper. Chance won big-time in 2016… he was that dude. I felt that he was the clear cut favorite to be selected as the hip-hop headliner. No excuses. Once the lineup was released, I was pleased to see Chance’s name as top dog on Friday night. Lil Chano from 79th is legit: he’s the closest thing we have in today’s music industry to the old Kanye West. I’m genuinely happy for his success. I’m super excited to see his continued growth and influence on music and life.
So, who do I think should be the hip-hop headliner in 2018? My top 3 choices are Lil Wayne, Future or Big Sean. All three artists make sense in their own right. Wayne is still a BIG name within the music industry. Future is everywhere (like doing GAP commercials with legend Cher) and Sean Don has the music to get the crowd moving. I’m looking forward to seeing who LIB chooses as headliner. I don’t see all three being at next year’s festival but there is a possibility where two of three make the trip to Vegas. We shall see…
If you love music, art, food and fun, the Life Is Beautiful Festival is a top festival destination in 2018. Trust me, it’s worth the ticket price. Downtown Las Vegas is the place you want to be. It’s on the come up and it’s way cheaper than The Strip. You’ll love it. See you next year! 🙂
