I would like to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all fathers worldwide! Being a father is a honor, priviledge and huge responsibility: we look to Dad as the leader and provider of the family. My Dad (pictured) is my role model and hero – simple and plain. Last year, I wrote about him in reference to “How I Met Your Mother,” one of my favorite TV shows. My Dad has taught me everything about being a man. The way I walk, talk, dress, smell, etc is all because of Jimmie Dell Westbrook.
His influence has greatly affected in my life positively: we rarely disagree on anything. He won the last standoff when the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals over the Cleveland Caviliers. Pops was rooting for Steph Curry and hometown hero Draymond Green (#SaginawPride) – I was pulling for my guy LeBron James. Every move he made in life, I wanted to emulate. From being a Kappa to having the passion to help people, from representing Saginaw at every moment to taking care of his family, my Dad has always been a living example of achievement, leadership and service.
Honestly, I can’t wait to be a father someday. After God blesses me with a beautiful wife, raising a family is something I look forward to. Trust me – I know it’s not easy but I want to be there for my future kids like my pops was there for my sister and I. The goal of becoming a great father is near. If I ever have any questions, I know who to call!
Once again, I thank every Dad out there for taking care of business and raising your families the right way. Today is your day – take a bow and relax. Enjoy it the best way possible…God bless 🙂
